NIGHT RATING

Overview

Adding a night rating to your licence allows you to fly aircraft at night. The benefit of obtaining this rating is that your plans are no longer limited by the time of sunset.

Prerequisites
  • Private Pilot Licence (or higher)
  • Category 3 Medical (or higher)
Requirements
  • Minimum flight time (dual and solo) 15 hours
  • Minimum 10 solo takeoffs and landings

Aircraft Rental (5 hrs solo)$1,025
Aircraft Rental (10 hrs dual)$2,900
Pre/Post Flight Briefings (5 hrs)$425
Approximate Total Cost$4,350 + HST

All times and costs are based on Transport Canada minimum times (CAR 421.220) and are subject to to applicable taxes. The actual costs of obtaining the rating will vary with individual student progress. It is recommended that students complete training in as short a time frame as possible to increase retention between lessons. Costs are paid on a per-flight basis and are charged based on flight time.

MULTI-ENGINE RATING

Overview

A Multi-Engine Rating allows you to fly aircraft which have more than one engine, like the club’s PA-30. It is a first step towards flying larger aircraft.

Prerequisites

  • Private Pilot Licence (or higher)
  • Category 3 Medical (or higher)

Requirements

  • Successful practical flight test

Aircraft Rental (approximately 7 hrs dual)$3,605
Pre/Post Flight Briefings (5 hrs)$425
Approximate Total Cost$4,035 + HST

There is no minimum time requirement for completing the Multi-Engine Rating.
